Ukraine Military Reform: Pay Increase and Demobilization Plans Announced
Ukraine's Ministry of Defense is set to implement military reforms beginning June 2026, including higher pay and demobilization plans. The changes aim to enhance soldier compensation, particularly for combat roles, and improve the overall efficiency of military staffing.

Ukraine's defense ministry announced comprehensive military reforms starting in June 2026, which will include pay increases for soldiers, particularly in combat roles. Minimum pay for rear positions will rise to Hr.30,000 (approximately $750), with infantry contracts offering Hr.250,000-400,000 ($6,000-10,000).
The reforms also plan for phased demobilization of earlier mobilized soldiers beginning in 2026, with key details to be finalized in May. Additionally, the ministry aims to overhaul recruitment and service conditions through 30 planned projects, enhancing efficiency and accountability. The proposed changes are expected to significantly impact military morale and operational effectiveness.
