Ukraine's Defence Industry Projects $12 Billion Output Amid Challenges for 2026
Ukraine's defence procurement for 2025 is projected at around $12 billion, with domestic production increasing significantly. The country has spent nearly 1 trillion hryvnias (approximately $23.62 billion) on weapons this year, surpassing allocations for pensions and healthcare.
The domestic share of weapons procurement rose from 46% in 2024 to 76% in 2025. Despite advancements in manufacturing, including drones and artillery, challenges persist, including funding shortages, missile strike vulnerabilities, and labor shortages, which could hinder reaching a projected $50 billion production capacity by 2026. Recent reforms aim to improve the investment climate and streamline procurement processes, but progress remains uncertain as communication between authorities and manufacturers needs improvement.
