Ukraine's Defence Industry Transforms Amid Ongoing War with Russia
Ukraine's defence industry has undergone a remarkable transformation since the onset of the Russian invasion, with production expected to rise from USD 1 billion to USD 35 billion by 2025. The sector has expanded to nearly 1,000 enterprises, with private companies contributing 90% of production, focusing on essential military equipment like drones and missiles. Key initiatives, such as the 'Army of Drones' program and the Brave1 defence technology cluster, have bolstered investment and positioned Ukraine as a leader in UAV production and long-range missile development.

Over four years since the full-scale Russian invasion on February 24, 2022, Ukraine's defence industry has transformed significantly, increasing annual production from USD 1 billion to an estimated USD 35 billion by 2025. Initially threatened by Russian strikes, the industry adapted by ramping up production of essential military equipment, including drones, artillery shells, and missiles.
Ukraine's defence ecosystem expanded to about 1,000 enterprises, with private companies now accounting for 90% of production in some sectors. Key initiatives include the 'Army of Drones' program and the establishment of the Brave1 defence technology cluster, attracting over USD 100 million in investment.
By 2025, Ukraine aims to produce approximately 3,000 missiles annually and has become a leader in UAV production, with an annual output of about 4 million drones. The Ministry of Defence is prioritizing long-range missile development, enhancing Ukraine's strategic military capabilities and positioning it as a key partner for European nations.
