Ukraine's Guaranteed Buyer Announces 850 MW Renewable Energy Auctions for 2026
Ukraine's Guaranteed Buyer will hold three auctions in 2026 to allocate 850 MW support quotas for renewable energy projects, specifically solar and wind. This initiative aims to enhance investment in renewable energy amid ongoing military challenges.

The Joint Stock Company 'Guaranteed Buyer' (GB) will conduct three auctions on August 21, 2026, to allocate support quotas for 850 MW of renewable energy projects. Eligible participants must provide an unconditional bank guarantee of €5 per kW for their applications and a bank guarantee of €10 per kW upon winning, with power plants required to be commissioned within 36 months, extended to 42 months during martial law.
Previous pilot auctions in 2025 saw limited success, with only one wind power plant auction yielding a 120 MW quota. These new auctions may stimulate developer interest and investment in renewable energy despite ongoing military activities.
