Ukraine's Military Reform: Contract System and Salary Increases Announced by Zelenskyy
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has initiated a military reform to enhance the contract system and raise salaries. This aims to clarify service terms and enable phased discharge of mobilized personnel, starting as early as this year.

President Zelenskyy has ordered reforms in Ukraine's Defense Forces to strengthen the contract system, allowing for defined service terms and phased discharge of earlier mobilized personnel. Salary adjustments will see minimum payments for non-combat positions set at 30,000 hryvnias, while infantry troops may earn between 250,000 to 400,000 hryvnias based on their combat roles.
The planned military reform will begin implementation in June, with a focus on fairness in pay, addressing staffing management, and incorporating suggestions from combat commanders. The changes are expected to respond to ongoing manpower challenges and enhance troop welfare amid increasing battlefield risks.
