Ukrainian Banks Form Consortium for UAH 21.5 Billion Defense Loan Agreement

DEFENSE

Ukrainian banks have established a record consortium loan agreement totaling UAH 21.5 billion to support a defense-industrial complex enterprise. The loan, secured by a state guarantee, will be financed by six state-owned and private banks over a three-year term.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) emphasized the importance of this agreement for risk-sharing and stable financing in defense sector projects. Previously, the banking sector collaborated to support energy restoration projects, securing UAH 33.5 billion for initiatives, including a total capacity of 1.3 GW for generation restoration. The NBU has highlighted defense financing as a national priority, encouraging banks to engage more actively in lending for defense-industry enterprises.
