Ukrainian Brigade Captures Ugandan Mercenary Near Lyman, Donetsk Region
Soldiers from Ukraine's 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade captured a Ugandan mercenary named Richard near Lyman in the Donetsk region. He claimed to have been coerced into joining the Russian army under the guise of a supermarket job after traveling to Russia to escape poverty. The brigade reported a rise in encounters with dark-skinned mercenaries since autumn, many of whom were unarmed and lacked identification.

Soldiers from the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade captured a Ugandan mercenary near Lyman in the Donetsk region. The brigade shared a video of the captured individual, identified as Richard, who claimed to have traveled to Russia to escape poverty under the pretense of a job in a supermarket.
Upon arrival, he and three others were forced into the Russian army and made to sign contracts at gunpoint. The brigade noted an increase in encounters with dark-skinned Russian mercenaries since autumn, many of whom were unarmed and lacked identification.
