Ukrainian Fire Point Develops S-400 Based Anti-Ballistic System Freya
Ukrainian company Fire Point has initiated the Freya project, an anti-aircraft system based on the S-400 missile framework. The FP-7.x interceptor is designed to be lighter, faster, and more maneuverable, with significant localization of production expected by the end of 2027.

Fire Point is developing the Freya system, utilizing a missile architecture derived from Russia's S-400 but integrating NATO-compatible components. The FP-7.x, with a range of approximately 300 kilometers and a target interception cost below one million USD, is presented as a scalable anti-ballistic solution for Europe.
Although the missile's design is based on the 48N6, Fire Point requires European partners for radar and guidance systems. A technological agreement with Germany's Diehl has been signed, moving Freya to a state-supported industrial project level. The pressing need for affordable ballistic defense in Europe may drive further collaboration, especially given the limited availability of current systems like the Patriot.
