UNDP and Africell Collaborate to Enhance Digital Support for Tech Hubs in Sierra Leone and The Gambia
The UNDP and Africell have partnered to improve internet access at University Innovation Pods (UniPods) in Sierra Leone and The Gambia. This initiative supports the Timbuktoo program, which aims to enhance innovation and investment in African startups.
Africell will provide UniPods with high-speed internet, 4G MiFi devices, and IoT tools, facilitating access to essential digital resources for young entrepreneurs. The partnership seeks to eliminate technical barriers that hinder the commercialization of ideas.
Additional training in robotics, entrepreneurship, and digital skills will be provided to support the initiative's social impact. Timbuktoo aims to mobilize $1 billion to improve 100 million livelihoods and create 10 million jobs, focusing on the growth of African startups.
