UNION Technologies and Firehawk Aerospace Partner to Address U.S. Artillery Production Challenges
UNION Technologies and Firehawk Aerospace have formed a partnership to enhance domestic defense manufacturing, focusing on the 155mm artillery supply chain. This collaboration integrates UNION's software-defined manufacturing with Firehawk's energetics and propulsion systems, aiming to close existing production gaps. The U.S. Army's target of 100,000 155mm rounds per month has highlighted significant production shortfalls, with current output at approximately 40,000. The initiative seeks to improve process control and scalability in defense manufacturing.

UNION Technologies and Firehawk Aerospace have partnered to improve U.S. artillery production by integrating software-defined manufacturing with advanced propulsion and energetics systems. The focus is on the 155mm artillery ecosystem, which has been under pressure due to increased demand from Western governments.
The U.S. Army aims for a monthly production of 100,000 rounds but currently produces around 40,000, highlighting a gap primarily in propellant charge production. The collaboration seeks to align manufacturing processes and standards, enhancing readiness and scalability while responding to the evolving defense landscape. A congressional report supports the establishment of a Civil Reserve Manufacturing Network to facilitate dual-use production capabilities.
