University of Arizona Partners with Precise Systems for $151 Billion Golden Dome Missile Defense Contracts
The University of Arizona has teamed up with Precise Systems, Inc. to pursue up to $151 billion in contracts for the Golden Dome missile defense program, which aims to intercept missiles, including those launched from space. This initiative, inspired by Israel's Iron Dome, is part of the SHIELD contracting vehicle approved by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, and includes UA startups as part of the competitive team. The collaboration seeks to bolster the defense industry in Southern Arizona, alongside established companies like Raytheon Technologies.

The University of Arizona (UA) has partnered with defense contractor Precise Systems, Inc. to compete for up to $151 billion in contracts under the Golden Dome missile defense program. This initiative, inspired by Israel's Iron Dome, aims to intercept missiles, including those launched from space.
The partnership is part of the SHIELD contracting vehicle, approved by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, allowing eligible teams to develop technology for Golden Dome construction. UA's involvement is supported by UA Venture Capital, which has a $100 million defense venture fund.
The Precise Systems team, which includes UA startups DeUVe Photonics, FreeFall Aerospace, and CM Laser Technologies, is among 2,100 competitors vying for these contracts. The collaboration seeks to enhance the defense industry in Southern Arizona, joining existing companies like Raytheon Technologies and Fort Huachuca.
