University of Louisiana at Lafayette Receives $25M for Workforce Training and Safety Projects
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has secured nearly $25 million in federal funding for four projects aimed at enhancing workforce training, scientific research, and public safety. Funded projects include a semiconductor training center, biosecurity lab upgrades, a cybersecurity research initiative, and an LNG safety center. The funding was approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget and aims to support Louisiana's workforce and economic growth.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will receive approximately $25 million in federal funding for four projects focused on workforce training, scientific research, and public safety. Approved by Congress and signed into law by President Trump, the funding includes $5 million for the Silicon Bayou Semiconductor Training Center, $2.5 million for biosecurity lab upgrades at the New Iberia Research Center, $12 million for the Autonomous Recovery from Cyber Attacks initiative, and $5 million for the PHMSA National Center of Excellence for LNG Safety. These projects are expected to enhance the state's workforce, expand research capacity, and foster partnerships with industry and government.
