University of Montana Secures $6.3M in Grants for Pilot Motion Sickness Research

DEFENSE

University of Montana received a $4.8 million grant from the U.S. Office of Naval Research and a $1.5 million Department of Defense grant. The funding aims to assist Navy pilots with motion sickness and help military personnel with traumatic brain injuries.

The research may also benefit individuals with balance issues. In fiscal year 2025, UM reported $149.9 million in expenditures despite a decline in federal proposals from 720 in 2024 to 564 in 2025.
