University of Nevada Secures NSF Grant for Robotic Coordination in Agriculture
The University of Nevada, Reno has been awarded a $618,201 NSF CAREER Award to advance drone and ground robot coordination in agriculture. This five-year project aims to enhance crop monitoring and treatment efficiency, potentially reducing resource usage in farming.

Assistant Professor Parikshit Maini's research focuses on creating cooperative systems of aerial and ground robots to improve agricultural practices. The project, titled "From Fields to Decisions," addresses challenges such as fuel management, communication breakdowns, and task uncertainty in robotic operations.
The technology developed may also extend to defense, infrastructure inspection, and extraterrestrial applications. Maini's initiatives include engaging students in robotics through competitions and developing educational programs in robotics and AI. His work aligns with the goals of the NSF CAREER program, emphasizing societal contributions through advanced robotic systems.
