University of Winnipeg Launches Manitoba Consortium for Digital Agriculture with $460,000 Grant
The University of Winnipeg is creating the Manitoba Consortium for Digital Agriculture (MCDA) to advance applied research in digital agriculture, supported by a $460,000 grant from Manitoba Crop Alliance and Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers. The consortium aims to unite researchers, farmers, and industry experts to develop practical digital tools.
The funding has allowed for the hiring of Elena GomezHaro as the first staff member. The initiative focuses on integrating technologies such as AI, robotics, and sensors into farming, with an emphasis on farmer-led research to enhance understanding and confidence in digital applications. The MCDA aims to strengthen Manitoba's position as a leader in digital agriculture.
