UofL Launches Hub for Kentucky Startups to Collaborate with Department of War
The University of Louisville has established the Defense Innovation OnRamp Hub to connect local technology startups with the Department of War. This initiative aims to streamline contracting processes and enhance collaboration between nontraditional defense technology companies and federal defense sectors.

The University of Louisville (UofL) has launched the Defense Innovation OnRamp Hub, facilitating partnerships between Kentucky startups and the Department of War. This hub, backed by the Defense Innovation Unit, aims to reduce barriers for smaller tech companies seeking to collaborate with federal defense agencies.
It will be managed by UofL's Office of Research and Innovation, providing a neutral space for interaction. Will Fortune, a senior naval officer, will direct the program, focusing on integrating nontraditional defense technologies.
The initiative aligns with Kentucky's growing defense manufacturing sector, which is bolstered by local aerospace industries. This move is significant amid increasing calls for enhanced defense spending to maintain U.S. military technology development.
