UPOWA and Winchester City Council Launch Solar and Battery Retrofit Program for Council Homes
UPOWA has partnered with Winchester City Council to implement a solar and battery retrofit program aimed at reducing emissions and lowering energy bills for tenants. By spring 2026, the council plans to convert 50 homes to solar energy, utilizing photovoltaic panels and battery storage systems. The initiative allows tenants to benefit from 50% of the savings generated after one year, while also covering maintenance costs. This project supports the council's broader goal of enhancing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.
