On April 2-3, 2026, Airmen from the 161st Air Refueling Wing conducted the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB) assessment at Goldwater Air National Guard Base in Phoenix. The GAFPB, a foreign military decoration from the Bundeswehr, is among the few badges permitted for U.S. military members, including the Air Force, Army, and Space Force.
Activities included a marksmanship test, a 1,000-meter run, and a ruck march. The participation of U.S. Airmen in this assessment underscores the emphasis on international military collaboration. Continued involvement in such assessments may enhance operational readiness and interoperability with allied forces.
