U.S. Air Force Awards Contract to Nokia, Skydweller, and Tangram Flex for Airborne Network

The U.S. Air Force has awarded a contract to Nokia Federal Solutions, Skydweller Aero, and Tangram Flex to develop a rapid-deployment airborne private network. The initiative, funded by the Air Force Research Laboratory, will continue through 2027 and involves a modular architecture to support software-defined networking.
Nokia's 5G technology will be integrated with Skydweller's solar-powered aircraft, while Tangram Flex will provide interoperability software. The network aims to enhance communication capabilities for military and commercial operations.
