U.S. Air Force Contracts Boeing for C-17 Infrared Countermeasure Upgrades for Canada and Australia
The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a $13 million contract for upgrading infrared countermeasure systems on C-17 Globemaster III aircraft operated by Canada and Australia under the Foreign Military Sales program.
The contract involves converting Block 10 systems to Block 30 for five Royal Canadian Air Force and eight Royal Australian Air Force aircraft. The work, scheduled for completion by July 2030, includes procurement of kits, installation activities, and technical support.
The upgrades enhance survivability against infrared-guided threats, ensuring compatibility with U.S. military standards. Work will take place in San Antonio, Texas, and is overseen by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center in Warner Robins, Georgia.
