U.S. Air Force to Replace Air Force One with Boeing 747-8 Amid Delays

DEFENSE

The U.S. Air Force is replacing the Boeing 747-200B Air Force One aircraft, which are nearing the end of their service life. In 2023, the Air Force awarded Boeing a contract for the next generation Air Force One based on the 747-8, with delivery expected in 2027.

Qatar's ruling family gifted a 747-8 to the U.S. for the Air Force One fleet, facilitated by Jared Kushner. The aircraft is being retrofitted to meet security standards, with funding in the FY24 budget for integration expected to be completed by late 2026.
