U.S. Announces Patriot Missile Aid for Ukraine During Zelenskyy's Visit

The U.S. State Department has confirmed the provision of a Patriot missile defense system to Ukraine within a $1.85 billion military aid package, which increases total U.S. military aid to Ukraine to $21.9 billion since President Biden took office.

This package includes $1 billion for immediate drawdown from U.S. stocks and $850 million for future support through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which will facilitate new contracts for military supplies. Congress is also set to vote on a $1.7 trillion funding bill that allocates $45 billion for Ukraine, including $27.9 billion specifically for military support. However, some Republican lawmakers are expressing concerns about continued funding, potentially influencing future aid decisions.
