US Army Advances Network Technology with Capability Set Initiative
The US Army is nearing completion of Capability Set '21, enhancing network technology across infantry brigades. Upcoming Capability Set '23 aims to improve communication bandwidth and support Joint All-Domain Command and Control.

The US Army's Capability Set '21 is nearly complete, equipping the seventh brigade combat team with upgraded network technology. This initiative began in fiscal year 2021, with incremental improvements planned through fiscal years 2023, 2025, and 2027.
Capability Set '21 has been 50% fielded and aims to enhance infantry brigade connectivity, making communications gear lighter and more flexible. The forthcoming Capability Set '23 will focus on Stryker vehicles and increased communication pathways, contributing to the Joint All-Domain Command and Control strategy.
A critical design review for Capability Set '23 is scheduled this week. The Army's push for network modernization is crucial for maintaining operational superiority amid increasing threats.
