U.S. Army Corps Invests $35M in Jersey Shore Beach Replenishment
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has finalized $35.3 million in contracts for beach rebuilding in New Jersey's Ocean City, Avalon, and Stone Harbor. The replenishment projects aim to address severe erosion caused by recent storms, with significant sand transport scheduled before the summer season.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has signed contracts totaling approximately $35.3 million for beach replenishment in Ocean City, Avalon, and Stone Harbor, New Jersey. The project will involve transporting sand via pipelines from offshore locations to replenish beaches that have been heavily impacted by coastal storms.
Sea Isle City and Strathmere will receive 1.86 million cubic yards of sand, with replenishment efforts expected to commence in June. Following this, 1.6 million cubic yards will be added to Ocean City in July.
The initiative is part of a larger $99-million beach replenishment effort in Cape May County, addressing the urgent need for repairs after Hurricane Erin and subsequent storms. Federal funding covers 65% of the project costs, with New Jersey contributing 35%.
