US Army Corps of Engineers Launches 'Building Infrastructure, Not Paperwork' Initiative
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has launched the 'Building Infrastructure, Not Paperwork' initiative to expedite Civil Works projects, focusing on priority water resources. This initiative includes advancing the Soo Locks Asset Renewal Plan in sync with a new lock opening in 2030 and improving the Great Lakes navigation system through timely dredging. Additionally, it supports fast-tracking the permitting process for the proposed Enbridge Line 5 tunnel under the Straits of Mackinac, with a decision expected this spring.
