US Army Corps of Engineers Remediates Former Nike Missile Site in Butler County, Ohio

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is remediating a 14-acre former Nike missile site in Butler County, Ohio, which was built in the late 1950s and decommissioned in 1970. The site, known for air defense in the Cincinnati and Dayton areas, is now part of the Formerly Used Defense Sites Program.
USACE has been monitoring groundwater since 2009 and is currently employing monitored natural attenuation to address pollution. They are investigating quicker remediation techniques and have engaged the community for feedback on project updates. Cleanup is expected to take about a decade, subject to various factors.
