U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria Breaks Ground on Operational Readiness Training Center in Germany
U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria marked the groundbreaking of the Operational Readiness Training Center (ORTC) on December 19, 2023, with construction beginning in August. The first phase will include a four-story barracks for over 300 soldiers, among other facilities, and is expected to be completed by February 2029. This multibillion-dollar initiative aims to replace outdated infrastructure and enhance training capabilities for 5,000 soldiers through collaboration with various engineering and construction entities.

U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria achieved a milestone in the construction of the Operational Readiness Training Center (ORTC) with a groundbreaking ceremony on December 19. Construction began in August 2023, with infrastructure for the first and second battalion sets completed.
The first phase includes a four-story barracks for over 300 Soldiers, heating plant, distribution node, officer quarters, and fitness facility, expected to be completed by February 2029. This multibillion-dollar program will replace outdated facilities and enhance the readiness of U.S. and partner forces, supporting 5,000 soldiers and improving training capabilities.
The initiative involves collaboration among the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the garrison's public works department, the Bavarian State Construction Office, and various host nation companies.
