U.S. Army Huntsville Center Ends Power Purchase Agreement Program After Solar Project Completion at Fort Carson
The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, has concluded its Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) program following the acceptance of a solar facility at Fort Carson. Designed and maintained by Energy Matters Corporation, the 47-acre facility will generate approximately 19,700 MWh of renewable energy annually, enough to power about 1,650 homes. The PPA program, initiated in 2013, enabled long-term energy purchases from renewable sources on military installations and has officially run its course.

The U.S. Army Huntsville Center's Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) program concluded with the acceptance of a solar facility at Fort Carson, designed and maintained by Energy Matters Corporation. This 47-acre facility will produce about 19,700 MWh of renewable energy annually, powering approximately 1,650 homes.
The PPA program, established in 2013, allowed the Army to purchase energy from renewable sources without owning generation assets. The program will officially end following the completion of existing projects, as confirmed by Brig.
Gen. Kirk Gibbs. Energy Matters Corporation partnered with TotalEnergies for compliance, and the system is designed to integrate with a future micro-grid.
