US Army Increases M1150 Assault Breacher Vehicle Funding by 350% for Enhanced Remote Operations
The U.S. Army's FY 2027 budget allocates $18 million for the M1150 Assault Breacher Vehicle, marking a 350% funding increase. This investment aims to enhance remote-controlled operations, significantly improving safety and efficiency during breaching tasks.

The U.S. Army's FY 2027 budget request for the M1150 Assault Breacher Vehicle (ABV) has increased funding from $4 million in FY 2026 to $18 million, reflecting a 350% rise. This funding will support five ABV-H conversions and three ABV-RCS Remote Control System kits, enhancing operational capabilities in high-risk environments.
The ABV-RCS kit enables teleoperation, significantly reducing crew exposure during assault breaching. The total programmed procurement remains below the Army's objective, with a current shortfall of 47 units against the procurement target of 165.
The ABV is integral to engineering operations, facilitating rapid breach and obstacle clearance to support combined arms maneuvers. The funding pattern demonstrates a focus on capability enhancement rather than fleet expansion, with modernization efforts aimed at increasing operational tempo while minimizing risks during missions.
