U.S. Army Introduces M111 Offensive Hand Grenade for Urban Combat
The U.S. Army has authorized the Full Material Release of the M111 offensive hand grenade, enhancing urban combat capabilities. Developed by Picatinny Arsenal in collaboration with the Combat Capabilities Development Command, the M111 replaces the Mk3A2, which has been in service since 1968. The grenade features a cylindrical plastic body and a similar fuse mechanism to the M67, allowing for improved logistics and training. Its high explosive design provides increased lethality and blast overpressure effects suitable for urban environments.

The U.S. Army has introduced the M111 offensive hand grenade, marking a significant upgrade in its arsenal for urban combat. This new grenade, developed by Picatinny Arsenal and the Combat Capabilities Development Command, is the first hand grenade adopted since the Mk3A2 in 1968.
It has a cylindrical plastic body and a similar fuse mechanism to the older M67 grenade, enhancing logistical efficiency and training for soldiers. The M111 is designed to generate significant blast overpressure, increasing its lethality in urban settings. It features a green exterior to distinguish it from the practice version, M112, which is blue.
