U.S. Army Soldiers Test FALCONS Advanced Sensor Prototypes at Fort Belvoir
From February 2-6, 13 Soldiers from the U.S. Army's 1st Armored Division engaged with FALCONS prototypes at Fort Belvoir. FALCONS, intended to replace the LRAS3 system, integrates advanced military sensors and AI to enhance battlefield capabilities. The Soldier Touch Point event focused on feedback relating to ergonomics and usability, with input from engineering psychologists to identify design flaws early. The insights will inform future designs and improve operational effectiveness.

From February 2-6, 13 Soldiers from the 1st Armored Division and associated centers participated in a Soldier Touch Point (STP 0) at Fort Belvoir to evaluate FALCONS prototypes. FALCONS, which stands for Future Advanced Long-range Common Optical/Netted-fires Sensors, is designed to replace the LRAS3 system and incorporates advanced military sensors and AI for enhanced target detection.
The event solicited feedback on ergonomics, button layout, and graphical user interfaces. Engineering psychologists documented Soldier interactions, helping identify design flaws early. Feedback on handgrip design and usability will guide future vendor designs as FALCONS moves to the initial design phase.
