US Capital Expands Influence in Key Sectors of Bosnia and Herzegovina
In recent years, US capital has increasingly influenced key economic sectors in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), including defense, mining, energy, gaming, and financial markets. AAFS Infrastructure has expressed interest in a concession for the Southern Gas Interconnection project and airport management in Sarajevo and Mostar.
Notably, American firms Sikto d.o.o. Sarajevo and Regulus Global have acquired significant stakes in military companies Pretis and Binas. Additionally, Canadian Dundee Precious Metals acquired 100% of Adriatic Metals, becoming the sole owner of the Vareš polymetallic mine for approximately $1.25 billion in September 2025.
BH Telecom intends to acquire Telemach BiH, owned by United Group, which is backed by US investment firm KKR. The US is also backing the Southern Gas Interconnection project to reduce BiH's dependency on Russian gas.
Furthermore, American investors plan to establish a new stock exchange in the Brčko district, aiming to revitalize the capital market. These developments highlight the increasing strategic investments by US entities in BiH's economy.
