U.S. DTRA Donates Forensic Laboratory to Georgia's Interior Ministry Worth $733,490
The U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has donated a triage laboratory valued at $733,490 to the Forensic-Criminalistic Department of Georgia's Interior Ministry. This donation is part of a joint project that has been ongoing for two years.
Additionally, on January 16, the U.S. military contributed firefighting and communications equipment worth $234,150 to Georgia's Emergency Management Service. Earlier, a $10.4 million U.S. grant for communications equipment was authorized for Georgia's Defense Ministry.
These contributions occur amidst strained U.S.-Georgia relations, following the suspension of their strategic partnership in November 2024 and subsequent sanctions on Georgian officials. Since January 2025, the Trump administration has not publicly addressed Georgia, despite Georgian Dream's efforts to realign with the U.S.
