US Expands Energy and AI Initiatives in the Balkans with Multi-Billion Dollar Agreements
The United States has signed multi-billion dollar agreements with Balkan countries to enhance energy security and AI development. These initiatives aim to reduce reliance on Russian energy and strengthen US influence in the region.

The United States has entered into significant agreements worth billions with Balkan nations, focusing on liquid natural gas (LNG) exports and artificial intelligence (AI) investments. A 20-year contract valued at $6 billion was signed between Venture Global and Aktor LNG USA to export LNG to Albania.
Additionally, a project to construct a gas pipeline from Croatia to Bosnia and Herzegovina aims to diversify Bosnia's energy sources and decrease dependence on Russian gas, with an investment of approximately €1.5 billion from AAFS Infrastructure and Energy LLC. A joint statement on civil nuclear cooperation was also released. Furthermore, a €50 billion AI development project is planned in Croatia, expected to start construction in 2027 and become operational by 2029.
