US Gas Pipeline Agreement between Croatia and Bosnia to Counter Russian Influence
The US supports a gas pipeline project aimed at reducing Bosnia and Herzegovina's reliance on Russian gas. This initiative includes a connection to Croatia's gas network and an LNG terminal, enhancing energy security in the region.

A new gas pipeline project, the Southern Interconnection, is set to connect Bosnia and Herzegovina with Croatia's gas network and the LNG terminal on Krk Island. The agreement was signed by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Borjana Krišto, the chair of the Bosnian Council of Ministers, in Dubrovnik, with US representatives present.
This project is part of a broader US strategy to mitigate Russian influence in the Balkans and enhance regional energy security. The success of this initiative could significantly alter the energy landscape in Southeast Europe, promoting diversification of energy sources.
