U.S. Gas Supply Increases Through Porto Tolle Amid Gulf Crisis
Porto Tolle terminal has maintained gas flow stability, compensating for the loss of Qatari supply since April 2025. This shift marks a significant change in Italy's gas supply dynamics as U.S. imports rise.

Since April 2025, the Porto Tolle regasification terminal has successfully countered disruptions caused by the blockade of the Hormuz Strait and ceased shipments from Qatar, historically Italy's primary gas source. In the first half of 2025, the terminal recorded an increase in the number of vessels, from 39 to 41, while maintaining consistent liquefied natural gas volumes.
Managed by Adriatic Lng, which is 70% owned by Vtti and 30% by Snam, Porto Tolle has an annual capacity of 9.5 billion cubic meters, making it Italy's third-largest gas entry point. This development reflects a significant shift in energy sourcing amid geopolitical tensions.
