US House Passes FY 2026 Appropriations Bills with Key Funding for Defense and Local Projects in Hawaii

DEFENSE

The US House passed three of four annual appropriations bills for FY 2026, including $839 billion for the Department of Defense and intelligence agencies, $224 billion for health and education programs, and $103 billion for transportation and housing. US Rep.

Ed Case supported these measures but opposed a $64 billion Department of Homeland Security bill due to lack of oversight on Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Defense bill includes funding for missile defense in Hawaii and support for Native Hawaiian businesses.

Case secured $7.5 million for seven community projects in Hawaii, covering infrastructure, housing for the homeless, and educational resources. The appropriations aim to avert a government shutdown and support local needs in Hawaii. All measures are set to advance to the Senate for approval.
