US Investment in Dominican Republic's Energy Sector Exceeds $2.4 Billion, Highlights AES
US Ambassador Leah Campos visited AES Dominicana to acknowledge over $2.4 billion in US energy investment in the Dominican Republic. During her visit to AES Andrés, she learned about the company's infrastructure projects and the strategic importance of natural gas imports. AES Dominicana, in partnership with ENADOM, supplies natural gas to seven generation units, providing 1,800 megawatts of reliable energy. The company is the largest importer of US natural gas in the region, with imports reaching 4 million cubic meters in 2025.

US Ambassador Leah Campos visited AES Dominicana's AES Andrés facility to recognize the company's energy investments exceeding $2.4 billion, making it the largest US investment in the Dominican Republic. The visit included discussions on the strategic importance of the AES natural gas terminal and its 'LNG plug and play' model, designed to meet rising energy demand.
Currently, AES, in collaboration with ENADOM, supplies natural gas to seven generation units, delivering 1,800 megawatts of energy. In 2025, AES's natural gas imports totaled 4 million cubic meters, reinforcing the Dominican Republic's status as the largest importer of US natural gas in Latin America.
