US Navy and HII to Upgrade Minotaur ISR Systems Over Five Years
The US Navy and HII have finalized a five-year agreement to upgrade the Minotaur family of systems for US Navy and Coast Guard aircraft, with a contract expected to be awarded in Q3 FY 2027. The upgrades will focus on advanced airborne mission processors, multifunction active sensor radars, and enhanced ISR subsystems, aiming to improve interoperability and effectiveness across various platforms. The US Navy has allocated $5.1 million in its FY 2026 budget for these enhancements.

The US Navy (USN) and HII have finalized a five-year agreement to upgrade the Minotaur family of systems (FoS) for USN and US Coast Guard (USCG) aircraft. The contract, expected to be awarded in Q3 FY 2027, will focus on the design, development, and engineering for next-generation systems, including advanced airborne mission processors, multifunction active sensor radars, and electro-optic infrared (EO/IR) ISR subsystems with enhanced cyber security.
The initiative aims to improve interoperability and effectiveness of ISR and targeting capabilities across various platforms. The USN has allocated USD 5.1 million in its FY 2026 budget for these upgrades.
