US Navy Names New Extra-Large Unmanned Undersea Vehicle XLE2 Developed by Boeing
The US Navy has officially named its newest extra-large unmanned undersea vehicle (XLUUV), XLE2, developed by Boeing. The XLE2 is part of the same series as XLE0, which was delivered in 2024, and is designed to carry various mission-specific payloads, including a new type of undersea mine currently in development.

The US Navy's new extra-large unmanned undersea vehicle (XLUUV), named XLE2, is produced by Boeing and is part of the same series as the previously delivered XLE0. The XLUUV measures 51 feet in length, 8.5 feet in beam, and has a displacement of 45.36 tonnes. Its payload bay is 34 feet long with a volume of 2,000 square feet and can carry up to 7.26 tonnes of mission-specific payloads, including a new undersea mine under development.
