US Navy to Deploy Three Unmanned Surface Vessel Divisions Next Week
DEFENSE
The US Navy will create three unmanned surface vessel (USV) divisions next week and deploy two medium USVs, Seahawk and Sea Hunter, this year. The vessels, nearly 135 feet long, will enhance surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities. The Navy's small USV fleet expanded from four to hundreds by 2025, with ongoing acquisitions planned for USVs with containerised payloads.
