U.S. Navy to Escort Tankers Through Strait of Hormuz Amid Iranian Threats
President Trump announced that the U.S. Navy will escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz due to Iranian threats. The U.S. Development Finance Corporation will provide political risk insurance for maritime trade, effective immediately. The announcement follows Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) threats against vessels, which have led to significant declines in traffic through the strait. Shipping companies are avoiding the area, while European navies are deploying to protect allies amidst ongoing Iranian missile attacks in the region.

President Trump declared that the U.S. Navy will escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, responding to threats from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The U.S.
Development Finance Corporation will provide political risk insurance for all maritime trade in the Gulf. The IRGC has warned ships against transiting the strait, resulting in a reported 81% drop in traffic.
Around 200 tankers are stranded in the Middle East due to shipping companies opting for alternate routes. Concurrently, European navies are deploying to the Eastern Mediterranean to protect against Iranian missile attacks.
The U.S. Central Command reported the destruction of all IRGC naval ships in the Gulf of Oman.
