U.S. Orders 210 SMASH 2000LE and Cerberus XL Counter-Drone Systems for $6.1M Defense Program
The U.S. has awarded a $6.1 million contract for 210 SMASH 2000LE rifle-mounted sights and Cerberus XL counter-UAS systems. JIATF 401 emphasizes the need for distributed sensing, real-time tracking, and multi-layered defense against small drones. The SMASH 2000LE enhances precision targeting at ranges up to 250 meters, while the Cerberus XL provides 360-degree detection and tracking capabilities for Group 1 and 2 drones. This procurement aims to strengthen base defense and improve response times against drone threats.

The U.S. has contracted for 210 SMASH 2000LE systems and Cerberus XL counter-UAS systems worth $6.1 million, as part of JIATF 401's base defense initiative. The SMASH 2000LE, a rifle-mounted sight, enhances precision engagement against small drones with an 80% hit rate at 100 meters.
The Cerberus XL offers a 360-degree radar array and can detect drones up to 3 kilometers, operating in under 30 minutes. This acquisition aims to integrate multiple sensors and systems into a cohesive defense strategy, addressing vulnerabilities between detection and interception of drone threats.
