US Plans to Double LNG Export Capacity Amid Rising Global Demand
FUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER
The US intends to double its liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capacity in the coming years due to increasing global demand, as stated by Mark Menezes, head of the United States Energy Association. The US is currently exporting over 3 million barrels of oil per day and marked the 10th anniversary of its first LNG export in February.
Menezes highlighted energy cooperation with Türkiye, extending beyond LNG to nuclear energy. The US Department of Energy reports that the US began LNG exports in 2016 and serves around 48 countries, maintaining its position as the leading LNG exporter with an average of 11.9 billion cubic feet per day in 2024.
