U.S. Treasury Designates Entities and Individuals Supporting Houthi Terrorism
The U.S. Treasury's OFAC designated 21 individuals and entities, and identified one vessel linked to the Iran-backed Houthis for transferring oil, procuring weapons, and providing financial services. This move aims to disrupt financial networks supporting the Houthis, which generate over $2 billion annually from illicit oil sales.
Key designated entities include Wadi Kabir Co., Rabya for Trading FZC, and Albarraq Shipping Co. The designation follows previous actions against the Houthis, designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in March 2025.
OFAC aims to expose networks facilitating Houthi terrorism, including recent attempts to acquire aircraft for smuggling operations. The vessel ALBARRAQ Z is identified as linked to Albarraq Shipping Co, which facilitated oil deliveries to Houthi-controlled ports.
