US Withdraws from Key UN Entities and Climate Treaty Amid International Tensions
The U.S. announced its withdrawal from key U.N. entities, including the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change and UN Women, marking a significant shift in its international engagement. This decision coincides with a report highlighting Israel's alleged violations of international law regarding Palestinians and the ongoing geopolitical tensions surrounding Venezuela and the Israel-Palestine conflict. Additionally, the U.S. is pursuing legal action against groups supporting Hamas amid rising concerns over antisemitism and related legislation in Australia.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced the withdrawal from multiple international and U.N. entities, including the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change and UN Women, citing U.S. national interests.
This marks the first U.S. absence from the annual U.N. climate summit in 30 years. A report by U.N. high commissioner Volker Türk claims Israel is violating international law in its treatment of Palestinians, describing it as a systematic form of apartheid.
Concurrently, a joint campaign for Palestinian hostages is set to launch in January 2026. The U.S. states filed a legal brief against groups supporting Hamas, emphasizing the need for justice for victims of terrorism.
International focus also turned to Venezuela following the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro, highlighting geopolitical divides and reactions from pro-Palestinian activists. The Israel Defense Forces conducted airstrikes in Gaza and Lebanon targeting terrorists. Concerns over rising antisemitism and proposed laws against controversial slogans in Australia were also noted.
