USACE Conducts Aerial Flyovers of Montgomery Locks and Dam for Upper Ohio Navigation Project
Unmanned Aerial Systems flew over Montgomery Locks and Dam on the Ohio River in Monaca, Pennsylvania, capturing footage on Aug. 27, 2025, and Jan. 8, 2026. The Upper Ohio Navigation Project aims to replace the auxiliary chamber at Montgomery Locks with larger lock chambers, facilitating navigation improvement and supporting over 15,000 jobs during construction.

Unmanned Aerial System pilots conducted flyovers of Montgomery Locks and Dam in Monaca, Pennsylvania, on August 27, 2025, and January 8, 2026. The footage captured included lock chambers and construction facilities by the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers and Trumbull-Brayman Construction Corporation. The Upper Ohio Navigation Project, part of the National Economic Development plan, involves replacing the existing auxiliary chamber at Montgomery Locks, enhancing it from 56 feet by 360 feet to 110 feet by 600 feet. This project is projected to support over 15,000 jobs nationally throughout the construction period.
