USAF Advances Collaborative Combat Aircraft Program with Key Prototype Milestones
The USAF's Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) program has reached significant milestones with the YFQ-42A and YFQ-44A prototypes. The integration of autonomous capabilities aims to enhance mission effectiveness and operational scalability by 2030.

The USAF's CCA program has designated General Atomics' YFQ-42A Dark Merlin and Anduril's YFQ-44A Fury as key prototypes. Both aircraft are designed to operate alongside crewed fighters, with a target of 1,000 autonomous units by 2030.
The YFQ-42A features a modular design emphasizing survivability, while the YFQ-44A focuses on affordability and scalability through a semi-autonomous operational model. Northrop Grumman's YFQ-48A Talon Blue has also achieved its first engine run, marking progress in the development of this autonomous combat platform. The CCA program seeks to enhance the Air Force's aerial capabilities amid evolving threats, emphasizing rapid production and integration of advanced technologies.
