USAF Allocates $345 Million to Revive AGM-183 ARRW Hypersonic Missile Program
The U.S. Air Force is requesting $345.7 million in its FY2027 budget to advance the AGM-183 ARRW hypersonic missile program. This funding is part of a broader initiative that includes plans for an Air-Launched Ballistic Missile derived from the ARRW with an additional $50 million allocation.

The U.S. Air Force seeks to revitalize the AGM-183A Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) with a $345.7 million budget for FY2027, aimed at its Increment 2 phase. Additionally, $50 million is earmarked for the development of a new Air-Launched Ballistic Missile (ALBM) derived from the ARRW.
The total funding for the ARRW program is projected to reach $1.7 billion by FY2030. Following prior funding cuts after unsuccessful tests, the Pentagon awarded Lockheed Martin $13.4 million in RDT&E funds in September 2024, marking a renewed focus on hypersonic capabilities.
The ALBM is intended to complement existing hypersonic systems, while integration with the B-1B Lancer is underway, enhancing its strike capabilities. Continued investment in hypersonics is critical for maintaining a competitive edge in advanced weaponry.
