USMC Advances Collaborative Combat Aircraft Development with F-35 Integration
The U.S. Marine Corps is progressing with the Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) initiative, focusing on the Kratos XQ-58 Valkyrie, aimed at enhancing future air combat capabilities. This development is essential as it positions the F-35 as a central platform for integrating unmanned systems, setting the foundation for a sixth-generation fighter aircraft.

The U.S. Marine Corps is on track with its Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) program, specifically developing the MQ-58 variant of the Kratos XQ-58 Valkyrie. This initiative is part of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Uncrewed Expeditionary Tactical Aircraft (MUX TACAIR) program, which aims to enhance the Corps' air-to-ground, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare capabilities.
The first flight of the MQ-58 is anticipated in early 2026, with operational deployment expected between 2026 and 2030. The Marine Corps envisions the F-35 as a quarterback for these CCAs, facilitating a bridge to future sixth-generation systems.
Coordination with the Navy's F/A-XX program will also influence the Marines' future aircraft capabilities. The integration of these technologies is crucial for enhancing operational effectiveness and maintaining air superiority.
